For all those like me that suffer incredible amounts of spam, from the end of November, hopefully things will improve...

Hmmmm. Can't say I have any great faith in these things. The virus detection is no better than a fully patched machine, and my work's spam filter has taken it into its mind to block anything sent to me from my accountants. Hope NTL is better than that...

Well, anything's got to better than nothing. And considering I get somewhere in the region of 250 spam e-mail a day this is more than overdue.

I disagree. Nothing is precisely what they should do, to incoming mail at least. Use spam blocklists, fine. Force users off their network that aren't running up-to-date virus software, or have open mail relays or are part of a botnet, absolutely. Attack the problem at its source, don't just nibble away at the edges.

PS Use MailWasher or something similar - it will dramatically cut that spam deluge.

I've been using Mailwasher Pro for a while now but due to the sheer volume of spam I'm getting I've had to put it into ultra agressive filtering mode, which unfortunately means some real e-mail occasionally gets hoovered up - and that means going through everything first before it gets binned. I'd rather not be getting the spam in the first place. Yes, attacking the spam zombie bots at source would definitely be a good move, but not deleting incoming spam as some kind of object lesson to the clueless would be a wholly pointless.

6 months late, but it appears NTL have finally installed spam filtering on email now

I noticed this week that spam had significantly decreased and upon checking their website, see that there's now a new 'Spam' option that can be accessed via webmail. It defaults to delete, but I've set mine to send the email marked so I can assess if there are any false positives.

I've heard they've installed IronPort devices, which are very good and should be a sure fire way of defeating spam.

I am SO happy
