...if you'd be so kind.

Im on the lookout for a small hifi system to replace the 1980s thing we've got at the moment. Must have CD and Radio. Tape would be nice as would MD and DAB.
I'm a badge snob too, so needs to be at least a sony. I like the look of some of the Denon kit, but can't see a DAB tuner in the range, am i being blind?

I have a small Denon in the bedroom, great bit of kit if you opt to go for some decent speakers.

On the whole you can get carried away with hi-fi kit it just depends on how deep your pockets are.

That's a home thing, job's safe despite the *unnamed server company* engineer's best efforts.

Arcam stuff's OK. I have an Alpha 9 CD, Alpha 10 amp and Alpha 8 tuner. The DAB tuner was too much money (and it's not worth spending much money on DAB anyway - the broadcasters have gone for quantity over quality).

No matter what you buy, *listen* to it first, especially speakers. Take some favourite music and expect to spend an hour or so listening. Or go to a proper hi-fi shop who will let you return the kit if you don't like it. And pay little or no attention to hi-fi magazines - most of what they write is twaddle motivated by advertising income. And *especially* pay no attention to hi-fi "enthusiasts". Everything they write is twaddle.
