Hi,

Planning to buy a laptop for business use. Ideally spending about £1000 (inc vat) with 512mb, 60hd and wifi capability with a 15 screen.

Can anybody recommend?

Thanks
A

I've just been looking at the Sony Vaio's for myself.

The one that appeals at the moment is the PCGK215Z.CEK for £1050 inc VAT. The best bit (for me anyway) is that you can get in on 0% finance for a year.

From previous posts, most people seem to suggest going for IBM or Dell. Of the two, we use Dell in our company and have found them to be very reliable, good battery life and not too pricy to buy - especially if you buy from the factory outlet bit of their web site, where they are about 15% cheaper than if you spec a new one (they appear new to us when we get them and warranty is the same).

Hope that helps?

I really rate IBM Thinkpads.
I have had them fall out of lockers in planes, get pushed off desks and on Monday I spilled 1/2 a (small) cup of coffee (with sugar in) over the keyboard and the machine (T41) has taken it all in it's stride.

If I was to buy a laptop for my own use and had to use Windows, I would go for a Thinkpad.

My firm uses about 10000 of them in the UK as they have got a good deal and they are pretty robust

Agree - IBM ThinkPad. Top quality, great features, robustness and reliability. Plus global support.
