Gah! A couple of disc. fora linked to my latest tvrbliss video file (bruntingthorpe) and the bandwidth usage caused an alarm bell to go of at Fasthosts HQ (my ISP). They then pulled my site BEFORE getting in touch with me. Cheers.
Becuase of this alaem they tinkered around my site to see what it was all about & spotted my dozen media files. "You can't do this with your account. No no no no noooooo.."

As TVRBliss is a car related, non profit site, I'd rather not throw the ISP a load of cash.

So... is there a kind PH web manager that could come to the aid of a loyal PH devotee? I'm going to leave the site files where they are, but just want the media files to live somewhere. We're not talking GIGs of files, or usage (normally).

Going to rename my .wmv file tonight, that'll shag 'em

Regards, Ed

Fasthosts shut down one of my sites before, and luca's IIRC, they truly are rubbish.

Click the Link in the top right,

used by tons of PH Brethren nowadays, more b/w than you could shake a conrod at, and cheap as a tank of Optimax (In a Diablo!)

Easier to use than a Mercedes Automatic

Enjoy

Places like this rely on noone USING what they sell you. For the most past they get by.. then someone will come along and TRY and use what they were sold, and they are simply asked to leave.

If you speciify Xgb, you should get Xgb.

Simple.

The only legitimate reason to move someone IMHO is if their Virtual Site has grown well past what is 'acceptable' in terms of Load / CPU for a virtual site, and you simply then get them to upgrade.

Been there done that EdT...with Fasthosts....bunch of useless c0cksuckers. They pull the site, and erase the contents. No amount of email communication makes any difference with them. They should all be burnt alive. Not that I'm bitter at all.

If in the meantime, I'm more than happy to host anything you want putting up.

I'll happily host (either on Pistonheads.tv or LB's site - they both sit on my company's infrastrucutre) anything that isn't non-commercial (i.e. doesn't break any copyright) for free.

Either send it over to LB or Ted. Pistonheads.tv will be getting a little "upgrade" over the Chrimbo period to put it on even faster hardware due to the increasing usage, and once that's done I'll move LB's site over.

Fasthosts are run buy a bloke i went to school with. Their tech support is good when things go wrong, but if you knew how many sites they cram onto their servers you'd run a mile (microsoft did when they were called out).
The abuse department treat everyone as if they've got kiddy porn on the site. A nice polite email warning that you're doing someitng wrong would do the world of good. But they pull the plug instead.

Just remember, your site is helping pay for the MD's Maybach and getting Robbie williams at their Xmas do.

Joust that's great (and thanks too Luca; thought might as well go straight to the kingpin. Still got your DVD stuff btw)

Joust, if I send you links to the files, is it OK for you to download, host, and send me details? Or a CD easier for you in the post?

OVer Xmas I'll look at jacking in the FHost account & use register1.net as recommnded - ta Jamie

Yes - once they are up there you can find the URL of each video by finding the properties of the video once you hit the "play" button.

e.g. your brunters video is www.pistonheadstv.com/videos/263.wmv
