Hi all,

Been thinking of getting one of the new SLI equipped motherboards when they are released later this month/early Jan such as the ASUS A8N-SLI and putting in 2 graphics cards

Anyone else considering this type of board and what recommendations for graphics cards, although obviously it will have to be nVidia and SLI enabled.

Theres only two reasons to bother.

One : Buy two top of the line 6800ultra cards and have the baddest fastest gaming PC ever, and an angry bank manager.

or

Two : Spend a few quid extra the board now, stick in a 6600Gt, game for a while, then add another 6600GT when there cheap.

Anything else doesnt make sense. the two 6600GT's will be more expensive (with the more expensive motherboard) than a 6800GT and perform the same.

Oh and you'll need one kickass powersupply too, so more expense.

If its option one, then fair doo's , but there isnt a game that needs two 6800ultras yet, so why pay a premium?

EDIT :- But given the chance, I'd have a go, even if only for a play with the tech and bragging rights. I did too Voodoo 2 SLI after all!

I'm getting one of these m/boards as well, putting one 6800 gt in it for the moment, and when the prices drop, will bung another in. Was just going to get a non SLi to start with, but the SLi board is actually cheaper than the lesser boards, and should be available sooner.

Won't be doing this yet as they don't do a dual Xeon Mobo with SLI, but maybe sometime soon.

You stuck on that ol platform or just preference?

Sometime next year AMD will launch dual core A64's which will slot into the SLi socket 939 boards, thats gotta be a winner
