Mobile phone hacked???

Mods this is in no way a dig at my supplier so I hope it is ok to name them...

I received my Virgin mobile bill today and in 18 months I have never gone over the monthly £24 charge. This month it was over £18 more and upon looking into it I found 3 calls all made within 45 minutes of each other to an 0845 number at the beginning of the month.
Virgin were very good and promised to look into it and ring me back later, which they duly did, and have even waved these costs from my bill even though their tech bods said the calls could have only been made from my phone.
I have a works phone and so never take my personal one to work, the calls all took place between 4.30 and 5.15, and I do not even finish work until at least 6 at the earliest.
Interestingly the 3 calls were to a telecom company that I have never heard of specializing in voice, data and mobile services for the business market.
So have I been hacked, and if so who the hell hacks a number to place 3 calls in 45 minutes and then stops using the number, any thoughts?
