Hi guys,

Santa is looming.. Kids (near 5 & one 6 going on 14) want tablets..

Assuming they will be dropped/abused.. And only used for stupid basic games.. What is worth looking at without spending silly money?

Seems tobe lots for 30 odd quid.. Are they fine? Anyone with first hand experience?

Valium is recommended, keeps them nice and quiet.

Son (3) has an iPad 3, daughter (6) has a Galaxy Tab 3. They both get on fantastically well with the tablets. I've had experience of very cheap tablets before and they were completely unusable (crashing and running incredibly slow). I'd say buy a second hand decent tablet and buy a rugged case for £10 or so on eBay.

I was hoping that this would finally be the thread about drugging children that I've always wanted to read.

My Friday night could yet turn out to be entertaining if the lazy parenting brigade turn up smile

We have four kids and the only tablet to withstand the daily battering that only kids can meet out has been the kindle fire. The ipad has had numerous screens and repairs it's now hiding under the couch quivering incase my four year old gets hold of it again. If tablets were a biscuit I would say the ipad is rich tea and the kindle is the hard bd hobnob biggrin

My kids get limited use of the family iPads but for Xmas the oldest has got a hudl coming from his grandad.

I've been setting it up and quite impressed with the quality and how well I can restrict access. How well it stands up to daily abuse I have no idea. It was a good price as well with 2 for one on tesco points.
I did buy a very cheap eBay special and although it was ok, it wasn't as responsive, the screen wasn't as good and the battery life was extremely poor. Very cheap is a bit of a false economy in this case.

Just make sure you get a decent case and screen protector and it should stay in one piece.

Hudl 2. Use your test clubcard vouchers and get it for as cheap as £80. Awesome bit of kit.

iPad Mini is now £199 new so you should pick a used one up for less than that, plus a griffin survivor play case which can be had for around £15.

If you could all get them to download the apps on my network so my ad campaigns benefit from your kids fat fingers that would be much appreciated biggrin

Tesco Direct are doing them for £179 at the moment (voucher code on Tesco site)

We have that griffin case & ipad for our 2 year old, he enjoys the endless number / reader games and youtube / i player so we let him have a play for an hour a day after lunch smile
