Hi

unfortunatly i'm looking to replace my current monitor, as it wont properly display the colours of purple, yellow or green, an it wont allow adjustment to its GG an GB settings, unless thats normal for it, tho theyre marked as 'FIX' by its onscreen display window for some reason, [rather than a 2 digit number setting].

this window-panel also states 'USER 6500k 9300k' on it when i goto adjust the colour, but i dont know what those numbers are meant to mean, only that selecting USER allows any colour adjustment, as noted above!

i went to the makers website an queried this but still await a reply.
i also went to download their latest INF driver for it, but they didnt list it, tho the monitors only 2 years old!

so unless any here know how i can obtain a proper coloured picture from it, then i'd appreciate a tip of where best to buy a new monitor, [from the UK] - thanx.

for the record its a 17" svga CRT - Fujitsu Siemens farb monitor MCM17E, model - E17CL, [48.3 KHz, 60Hz NN]

rsvp.

Best place to buy a monitor? Ebay. Loads of apple mac monitors kicking around for peanuts because most people don't know they'll work on PCs too. I got my 21" for £15. Does weigh a fair whack though.

After much gassing on various PH threads I managed to pick up a 22" monitor for £67 on eBay and very pleased I am too. 17" monitors are peanuts by comparison.

I buy most of my stuff from www.overclockers.co.uk

and www.ebuyer.co.uk

both stock more cutting edge items at far better value for money prices than PC world.

How easy is it to get a Mac monitor working with a PC, I thought they had different connections? (I have absolutley no idea why I thought that though!).

The older ones do have different connections, but you can pick up an adapter for about £10. I think the newer ones use a normal PC connector.

Just to add (since I haven't been able to play with it until today) the monitor I picked up on eBay is simply brilliant.

The size is a fantastic advantage but it's the quality of picture that is simply astounding!

It's a Compaq P1210 in case anyone's interested...

You do need to be careful, but there are plenty of genuine businesses that do all tehir business on ebay (look for 6000+ feedback). I've bought nearly 50 different items off ebay and only ever had one duff one, and the seller sorted out a refund straight off.

Give www.monitorwarehouse.co.uk/index.htm a try - pretty reasonable prices and based in London.

I also got a nifty 17 inch TFT from www.aria.co.uk recently which has now dropped in price to about £150! They do very cheap 15 and 19 inch sizes too.

... dont they use 3-pin plugs - not blatant plugs

any way, i browsed the above sites an noted that the cheaper crt ones i can afford are quite rare to choose from
