Hi Guys,

Wonder if you have any ideas....

Since I installed SP2 on my laptop, I cannot view PDF files, amongst others, from links on say PH.

Alll I get is a small box in the top left of the page with a red X in it.

I presume its something to do with the security settings, but after a bit of a play, the problem remains.

Thoughts anyone?

I had this, and i do recall seeing a fix for somewhere (was a registry hack)

I just took the alternate route to fixing it, I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Sorry I cant be of more help, but it was a Real PITA for me too.

If you are using the free reader rather than a paid for version of Acrobat it might be an opportunity to update the the latest V7 release - though my initial impression is that it seems a tad slower and maybe does not like all aspects of some older files.

Can't be sure about that though since I only loaded it a couple of days ago.

Re-installing is a logical first step - quicker than finding any other solution probably and should provide a working system.

I have`acrobat reader/writer installed already. it works fine with all my other PDF files - its just that I cannot view them without downloading and saving them first.

Sounds like SP2 has (probably among other things) changed some components in your browser - IE still?

Probably the Acrobat reader plug in de-registered or something like that. Still worth trying a re-install of the browser I would suggest. Either that or dabble with the browser security settings.

Installed reader V7 and it works fine now.

Thanks for all your advice guys for what, after all, was a trivial issue.

Ta!
