When using Word via ActiveX, its possible to get at the version and build numbers via the supplied properties.

Does anyone know how to interpret these numbers into something sensible that an end-user would understand?

e.g. I happen to know that version 8.0b build 8.0.5622 means "Word 97 SR-2" but would like to be able to programatically perform this translation for all versions & service releases from Word97 onwards.

A search of the various MS sites and several goes with Google haven't led me anywhere helpful yet. Anyone know how to automate the translation, or at least know where I can find an up-to-date list that I can hard-code into my application (yuk!)?

Cheers,

Pete

I take it that's a "no", then?

Couldn't tell you. Have you tried alt.microsoft.whatever newsgroup? MS staff frequent there more than they do here and I doubt anyone outside MS can relate the two.
