Which broad band for internet and PS2?
Discussion
About time I got set up at home.
Which is the best option for internet and PS2?
I don't have a modem, router or PS2 network adaptor (only £17 anyway) but understand there may be some packages around that include all or some of this.
Is there a worthy package out there or is there a cheaper way to do it where I can buy the hardware seperately?
Thanks.

You could give my mate Jon a call at Devision UK www.devision.co.uk
He won't be ultimately cheapest but can certainly sort out whatever you need and you will get proper customer service if you need it.
Tell him James sent you if you call!

Dusty,
I've got my PS2 sitting on a wireless bridge upstairs, connecting to a wireless access point, which through a switch and firewall to connects to my ADSL router.
Works a treat, but obviously you can go much simpler, depending upon whether you want to use it for anything else (laptops, desktops, PDA) and the cabling required, ie. would you PS2 be in the same room as your ADSL socket or could you get ethernet cable to it.
What setup do you have right now?
ADSL provider wise most should be OK, although bandwidth limitations might hurt and the cheaper providers may have limitations.

I know not one for the purists, but I went with Wanadoo wireless because they specifically supported the PS2 and meant I didn't have any tricky (for me) connection issues.
You get the router (which connects directly to the PS2) and the wireless receiver to plug into the computer. I connected it up in a matter of minutes and then used the PS2 access disc - already had all the setting for Freeserve/Wanadoo on the disc so I didn't have to do anything.
The broadband connection is running at 1Mbps - I pay extra to have the 30gb download - total cost £27.99.
However, just pray that you never need to speak to anyone there as they are all pre-programmed automatons who can't answer a question unless it's pre-printed on their card in front of them.

I use AOL, their Titanium package (1mbit).
Its been really reliable and fast, so I have to recommend that – plus they don’t have any bandwidth or usage limits unlike Wonado, BT and alot of the others.
I don’t use it, but I know they support PS2 and XBOXlive.
Edited to add - their support is free and supprisingly pretty good.
