Hi All

Bit long winded but need to build up the picture...I'm having a problem with Windows SBS 2003 server in that I added a new user onto the system using the 'Add User' routine in the Server Management consol. But all details on fine and whent to save - the Add User wizard hung there for ages. Got fed up with waiting and used Task Manager to close it down - refreshed the user list and the new user was showing - cool! Logged to user in - no problems - whent to set up Outlook for Exchange mail and mailbox not found !...

Whent back to server and looked in the user setting and none of the standard Exchange stuff was filled in (email addresses etc). That explains the hang then?!

No errors in Event log - ummmm ok ..

The secion of the wizard that hangs is the 'Configuring group membership settings'

Anyone any idea?! Thanks

Go into AD users and computers > Exchange tasks and add their details manually.

Might have to remove exchange attributes for the user, wait a while and then create the mailbox. It won't appear in system manager until it's been logged on to.

Seen this and can't remember the fix. If you create the user and just leave it where it hangs it will come back eventually (honest) at which point everything is ok. Still can't remember how to fix it though

If you right click on the user in active directory does exchange task appear? Can you add mailbox?
