Doing a bit of browsing through the server directory today, trying to clear some space on the drive, and I found a file with best part of 1GB in that I 'm not sure I can delete.

Its C:Documents and Settingsadministratorlocal settingsTemp and it appears to have copies of downloaded programmes and files dating back to 2002, something like 600 files and 40-odd folders

I could really use the space this would free up, so the question is, can it all be deleted or do active programmes sometimes dip into the temp folder?

If you open My Computer, right click and select properties on the C: drive and then press the Disk Cleanup button windows will wander through what it thinks is rubbish and ask you to confirm that it is.

This will include your web cache, the temp directory etc etc...

It's called temp for a reason, fine to delete. If it's in use you won't be able to delete it.

I've spent the day deleting several tens of GB of temp files from a few hundred user accounts as our citrix servers seem to have been built with 10mb in the temp directory of the default user, hence every profile is at least 10mb larger tha nit should be.
