Trojan virus

Quick bit of advice, my friend has AVG anti Virus Free edition, yes I know its not the best thing to have (I have sophos), anyway he has got the virus listed below.

My query is, does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it.

The Win32/Dkbits.Variant! Trojan Virus was detected in
C:\Windowsloadnew.exe
File status: infected

As long as your answer aint get new virus software it would be much appreciated, Oh and make it in laymans terms cause I have to try and explain it to him over the phone.

Your friend needs to download a stinger progam to zap the virus. Normally a Google search for the 'virus name' + stinger brings up the results you need.

Once downloaded, you run the stinger and it should clean the system.

Just run the avg scanner and follow the options it will give you when it says that it has found the virus. Put it in the virus vault or delete it.

Wouldn't let him delete it, then he tried to heal it and that hasn't worked either.

Cheers nathan, will get him to try that and see how far he gets!!

Hope this will teach him not to download absolutely anything on his works pc now, though I doubt it.
