has anyone got this/tried this? for those that dont know, uk online are offering broadband speeds of up to 8mbs! you also get a free router if you sign up quickly. im very tempted as it also will allow me to get away from NTL but i cant find any reviews online. soooo, have any of you guys any experience with this service?

Last I saw it appeared they had hardly any coverage, you searched on their site and if you're not covered (I'm not alas) you register to be told when you will be.

This might possibly be a dipping the toes in exercise to see which areas it would make the best case for supporting.

Intending to sign up for it this weekend.

Been keeping an eye on the Easynet / UKOnline forum at www.adslguide.org.uk, people on the ISP boards there tend to moan like crazy if things aren't going right and it seems pretty calm at the moment.

One thing I have picked up though is that the 8Mbps isn't truely 8Mbps, they include overheads in the overall speed that ISPs based on BT's service dont (ie my 512kbps connection actually connects at 576kps). Still stupidly fast and cheap though, even if I can probably only get 4 Mbps due to my distance from the exchange.

thanks for all the replies peeps. hopefully i will be able to get away from NTL in the near future. its crazy really, im paying £38 for a 1.5 meg connection so for 2 quid more, if this service is good its a bit of a no brainer and im tired of maxing out my connection and getting bored waiting for stuff. ill keep an eye out on adslguide, but, as has been rightly pointed out, where thats concerned, no news is good news
