autoexec.nt error - laptop running XP
Discussion
Working with Macs and knowing nothing about PCs didn't help when we got this error message on the wife's laptop tonight:
16 bit Windows Subsystem
c:/windows/system32/autoexec.nt
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft applications. Choose close to terminate the application.
A quick google search brought up this which is exactly the problem:
www.digital-documents.co.uk/archi/archi_cd_fix.htm
Which worked fine and I worked through this.
However, the first steps in the resolution didn't work and so I attempted to try the Notepad option. But, when you get down to number 7, it syas to type the following entries, now maybe my sight is going, but I can't find anything there to type in!
Is it my browser playing tricks?
Can anyone see it and tell me what to type? I'm doing this on the Mac at the mo with the laptop in front of me, and I'm gonna wire the lap top up in a mo, cos maybe it's the Mac browser ... ?
The laptop is running XP - if that's any use.
