Can anyone recommend a DVD burner to go in my HP Pavilion (XP/SP2) to replace the DVD player that's already in there?

I assume I just swap the drives? Is XP going to do anything dumb?

I've just installed one of these - Benq Dual Layer DVD Burner in mine, only £38 too, both -R and +R compatible.

XP fine, it shouldn't throw a wobbly with any really.
Just replace the one you have in already, making sure the jumper settings on the back match (either Master or Slave) the one you take out

Sony DRU-710A (unless noted all are burn speeds):

DVDplusR = 16x
DVDplusRW = 4x
DVDplusR DL = 2.4x
DVD-R = 8x
DVD-RW = 4x
DVD ROM = 16x READ
CD-R = 48x
CD-RW = up to 24x
CD ROM = 48x READ

Does it all really and comes in ivory or you can change the faceplate for a fetching black...

Oh - by the way HP have that new type of DVD burner drive out. The one that burns and then you flip the disk and it does a label. Have to use special disks, however...
