Hi,
I've just changed operating system from ME to Windows XP Pro and I cannot get java applets to run in Microsoft Front Page. All the necessary boxes seem to be checked?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions,
Thanks Steve

MS got told off by Sun Microsystems (those who "own" the Java API) as they had developed their own propeierty system for Windows, destroying what Java is good at (portability).

As such later builds of XP don't come with the MJVM so you need to head to http://java.sun.com and download either the SDK or the JVM

Thanks Stefan
I tried downloading something initially, this is what I got - Java Runtime Version 1.5.0_01 - but did not work. Is SDK or JVM anything to do with this? Excuse my ignorance but I'm no IT wizard

Java - write once, crash everywhere.

The MS JVM should render applets in XP fine. I dont have the latest release of the J2SE SDK and all applets work perfectly.

Did you upgrade from Me or do a clean install?

Its probably a configuration issue in IE...

1.5 of java is quite new and potentially not compatible with older applets. I'd install 1.4.x if I were you.
