Backing up my emial account on Outlook 2000, Microsoft help told me that my machine would create a .pst file.

Does anyone know where this file is stored? I've done a search for the bloody thing and it seems to have disappeared.

Try C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Edited to add "Local Settings" to path!

That's because it's in a hidden folder. So first of all turn on viewing of hidden folders. In Windows Explorer, Tools>Folder Options>View then scroll down and tick 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'.

To find your .pst, now go and look in C>Documents and Settings>username>Local Settings>Application Data>Microsoft>Outlook

If you're using WindowsXP, it will probably be in
c:documents and settings"username"local settingsapplication datamicrosoftoutlook

(You will need to show hidden files:
Tools menu > Folder options... > View > "Show hidden files and folders")
