I have just been given a months notice that my ISP is going to drop me for too much usage of its unlimited service , this annoys me slightly as I specifically asked that there were no limits when I joined.
So I am looking for an ISP that truely has unlimited downloads, I generally transfer about 40GB a month, the front runner seems to be Pipex at the moment.
Suggestions gratefully recieved.

Dcomms havent said anything, yet.

BT will give you 30Gb if you ask nicely so dropping you for 40Gb seems a bit churlish...

Wasn't BT that dropped me, I left Virgin because they were going to start enforcing their 30Gb limit, to go to the new provider with the UNLIMITED downloads. They seem to have a limit of between 20-30Gb as I haven't been on a lot lately as I have been busy.

Metronet provide unlimited downloads. Who is it that has cut you off?

I appreciate that but ultimately all DSL lines are wholesaled by BT, apart from the LUL operators.

Sorry, are we talking about HHTP / FTP download, website bandwidth, newsgroup binaries download or what?

Pipex have no cap on the actual ADSL service (apart from the actual bandwidth you're buying, of course), no specified limits on website bandwidth and a 10Gb monthly lmit on newsgroup downloads. Giganews do unlimited binaries download for $24.99 and 2Gb for $7.99 and they only charge for downloading message bodies not headers and they have 30 day retention too.

That's true, but ultimately BT have no control over the bandwidth that individual companies can use. The decision to cap/charge bandwidth always lies with the ISP.

Trying not to name and shame but the company who cut me off are more famous for selling mobile telephones.

Mostly music uploads/downloads through http, then general surfing.

A few years ago on dial-up Freeserve was short on capacity and increased its capacity, this seems like a sensible way to cope with demand.

If it is simply a case of them imposing a maximum bandwidth (eg. 1Mbits/sec with a maximum of 40Gb/month) then Pipex have no such limit.
