I have a domain name registered with uk2 which redirects emails to a btconnect account. Recently emails have taken upto 2 days to arrive and questions to support have had the two sides pointing the finger at each other (mostly uk2 blaming bt).

What would be the best solution? I have looked at moving my uk2 domain to BT so that it's all in one place but uk2's support pages don't make it clear how this can be done.

Is this a good idea?

Any help appreciated.

Uk2

Just move your domain elsewhere.

What type of domain is it? .uk or .com .net .org ?

iirc UK2 are going to charge you for the privaledge of moving away from them (nice heh!)

if its .uk, you can just pay nominet £15 to change the TAG to someone else... if its a .com .net .org you will need to goto joker.com (the people uk2 register with) and try and wrestle control of your admin email address so that you can approve the transfer away.. and then ask joker to approve a transfer away.

simple eh ;(

Another option is simply to buy hosting somewhere and just point the domain to the servers of your new hosting.

might i suggest you click the link in the top right for some ideas.

do let us know if you need any more info.

Ive been with UK2 for many years, and they really do annoy the hell out of me!

There are loads of instances where I get emails 4-5 days after they have been sent.

Originally I forwarded the emails through to their own email, but Ive now redirected it through to yahoo, and this is working a lot better.

The thing that annoys me the most is that you cant get hold of them!

Never had a problem with them hosting my website though, so they are good at that, plus they are very cheap

Thats it. they ARE cheap..

Just remember, you get the service you pay for.

If cheap is all that matters... then you're sorted

UK2 are fine if you want a cheap service with no SLA etc. I host my personal domain with them. Yes, sometimes mail gets delayed but it's not important for my personal stuff. What do you expect for 99p a month?

If you want a more responsive service you just have to pay more.

Oh and the mail problem is with UK2, not BT... Look at the headers on a delayed email and see the time stamps, they just sit on one of the UK2 servers.
