Appear to be a load of bollox!!

Signed up to Talktalk BB a few months ago, advertised as unlimited. Just got a letter stating they are going to disconnect me from the service because my usage level is causing degradation and adversly affecting the network!!!

FFS!! Its in the small print (which I didn't read) but don't you think this is a load of bollox??

Whats a cheap alternative that doesn't cut you off??

No such thing as a free lunch.

Almost all the cheap deals do have a limit or a 'fair usage' policy (which it sounds like you have fallen foul of).

A decent supplier with a real unlimited access will cost a bit more...

(Personally, I use Claranet, £30 per month for unlimited broadband, email and web hosting.)

This sort of thing is going to become standard on the budget price (<£20pm) 512k/1mb/2mb lines unfortunately.. it's all down to how the ISP connects to the BT network ..

Ditto just swapped across to Pipex, now all I need to do is to move the telephone and mobile then Carphone Warehouse will get no more of my money.

I'm considering Beaming as an alternative

www.beamingtelecom.com/DualPackages/BeamingOffpeakPlus.html

Same price/cost/telephone deal as Talktalk.

Suppose I can use it for a few months turn Emule back on and see if I get kicked again.

Just read Beamings' T&C and there's this bit in it:-

You acknowledge that Broadband Services are provided to other users and we owe a duty to these users as a whole to preserve our network integrity and avoid network degradation. If, in our reasonable opinion, we believe that your use of the Broadband Services has or may adversely affect such network integrity or may cause network degradation we may change your chosen access rate or manage your Broadband Services as we see fit in the circumstances.

So I guess I will just go with em, wait to kicked then change to someone a little more expensive later on.

Shame cos its handy having your phone/broadband paid as one bill and having free eve/weekend calls is nice as well.

They're all doing it now.

So much for "always on" connectivity. Always on as long as you don't use it!

Basically it allows the whole network to get more money with zero investment.

They used to do this on the dial up lines too. 15 quid flat fee, but use it more than they felt was reasonable and you get cut off.

Complete joke - our Asian counterparts will be laughing their heads off. I have 1.5mbps connection here (Tokyo). No limits and my colleagues think I'm a poor relation - they all have at least 100mbps and some have 2Gb!
