Hi,

I am trying to better myself and take the Microsoft Exam 70-229 titled, Designing and implementing databases in SQL server 2000. Has anyone done this exam? and what materials did you find useful. I have bought one book which is the microsoft press one. This is very waffly and goes into a great depth of detail. Any reccomendations would be massively appreciated.

cheers

Haven't done that exam, but 'exam cram' books have always been useful with the other MCPs

Also look at the brain dump websites and without doubt get hold of Transcenders!

I have to do 4 of these exams in my first year at my new job

I know nothing about them at all. Im planning on starting with web, then windows applications.

Recommend any good books?

If you're doing them purely for CV purposes then doing them from a book will make you look very silly when you get the job and they sit you in front of their live SQL database and tell you to fix it.
By far the best way is to get to know the system first, have a play then get a book and see what you're doing wrong. I wouldn't take an MS exam without at least a year's working experience in something.

I fully agree. Fortunately, for the last year ive been doing just that

In fact, Ive put off doing the exams to date purely because I didnt have enough practical experience.
