Our PC server has decided to annoy us all today ! We have been getting a steady beep sound, followed by a continual beep. I rebooted the server and the noise went away and is running fine. I can hear and feel the fan running, and it isn’t hot. Am I correct in assuming the beep is a warning beep? What’s it warning me about.

Cheers for the quick response. I’m not a computer whiz so easy on the jargon. Its running MS W2000 server software, with 7 pc’s attached. Nothings changed from yesterday. Rooms normal temperature and nothing on the keyboard. It was fine first thing this morning, just started to beep about an hour ago, then OK after the reboot. It’s still running fine now with no beep. Just wondering what the beep could have been.

EventLog>System is your friend... Check it out for the time period of the beeps.
If no joy there, as already suggested, check out any RAID cards as they tend to be noisy little so and so's when failing.
Final test - turn off quick boot in the BIOS and let it do a complete memory check when it reboots (this one is a long shot)...
...also, it's not multi-processor is it?

Beeps are error codes usually used to diagnose a fault/problem with the computer
When you switch on your PC, the BIOS runs if all is well this continues to boot (or load) the operating system (WINDOWS XP for example).
The number of beeps will highlight what is wrong.
Could be bad memory, faulty video card, keyboard e.t.c
If the beeps are occuring while your PC is already in Windows then this may help:
