We are inundated with faxes from Dell at least 10 times a day, now, we would send the fax back asking them to take us off their mailing list (never asked to be on it in the first place!), we are told that the fax takes about 40 mins to go through, on a premium rate number!
What can we do, legally to stop these faxes once and for all (short of changing our business numbers which are on all of our paperwork headers!)

Cheers

Chris

Does the fax reception show a different number to the one on the print-out - if so (and if it's not premium rate) send all the crap back.

Alternatively find Dell's fax number on google and fax them back lots of 'get lost' faxes.

Finally, if you have a clever enough fax system/machine then you can block their numbers at will - as long as they haven't blocked their number from showing. Some machines use the phone number, some use the station ID of the transmitting fax.

Hi Chris,

Register with the FPS www.fpsonline.org.uk/fps/ which makes it illegal to send you any further faxes without your consent. Don't expect them to stop right away....takes a few weeks to kick in.

Sign up for the Fax Preference Service.

www.fpsonline.org.uk/fps/

"Under Government legislation introduced on 1 May 1999 it is unlawful to send an individual an unsolicited sales and marketing fax without prior permission. Businesses have the opportunity to register fax numbers on which they do not wish to receive direct marketing faxes."

Just phone Dell up and ask them to stop. They are a reputable company.
