I know, I know.......New Laptop
Discussion
Sorry, I know this gets done a least once a week
but really need some advice on a new laptop.
In a nutshell,
Budget (£1000 ex VAT)
Needs to be quite light (not mega light) e.g. 2.5kg is fine - light enough to drag around with me.
Used for usual application plus good enough to play the odd DVD or game while away on trips would be nice
Wireless is a must
Ideas? I have been looking at Vaio's - nice and light but mega ££££££££

Just bought an HP Pavillion dv1000 from OfficeWorld of all places! £899 including VAT, 40gig hdd, DVD+-RW,wireless, widescreen (although admittedly not a huge one) only drawback is XP Home but I can live with this. Bought it because I wanted something quickly and am quite happy with it.

Yes, been looking at this very model actually - can you ask you friend if the DVD drive is external (can't find the answer anywhere) - I assume it will be as with most (if not all???) Vaio's.
