Networking question
Discussion
Have a small workgroup set up, 2 running XP Pro, 1 running XP Home.
Have mapped network drive and can see the shared folders but am denied access to the contents of the folders themselves. I've checked permissions and everything seems ticked.
Have noticed that when mapping the network drive I'm not being asked for a username and password for access to the resources. So I'm assuming that these access details are being remembered.
Any ideas?

Which machine has the shares, the Pro or home? You are better sharing from the Pro machine rather than to it.
When you are setting security, are you setting it to the correct machine account?
And don't forget, permissions on shares and filesystem access work in conjunction. You may have rights to the share, but not the underlying structure. I'm sure it's nothing major, just a missed step somewhere.

And I bet the machine that works is also Pro. Gut feling is the account on the home machine has been renamed. IIRC, you don't have access to local users and groups, so it's probably presenting the wrong credentials.
You could try setting up a new account on both machines to prove or disprove this..
