I have been waiting a few months for news and nothing is coming to light... what do the masses think?

I google it on a regular basis but not much has changed since April really.

The 1080 is starting to come down a bit in price and my 970 is feeling the strain of VR.

I don't want to get a 1080 now if the Ti is just round the corner but I would have thought if there was going to be a Ti then it would be well on the cards by now for Oct / Nov release?

I honestly believe they are waiting for AMDs next move.

I'd hang in there just to wait and see what Vega offers as it will certainly sway a move on the Geforce front.

You have the 1080 and Titan X, choose.

The 1080Ti will probably happen but not until AMD/ATi get their act in gear and thats not going to be for a while.

OK cheers. It seems Vega is going to be March next year. I suspect by that time we might see 11xx series as the 10 series just seems to never have really hit the spot IMHO. I mean the Titan is only 30% faster than the current top of the range card and its twice the price!

was the same with the old titan and 980ti, ti came out and got 90-05% of performance for 50-60% of the cost

A ti version won't appear anytime soon as the 1080 only came out a month or 2 back, but yes 970 will be straining as i have the same card so i'd either get one now or hold off and see what comes in 6months time

Card due Jan 2017 according to reports although I expect it will be Feb before we actually get to buy one. 970 holding up for now so going to wait it out.

Meant to say specs are basically the same as the Titan just 52 SMs vs 60 on the Titan. Memory is the same and the clock speeds are up a smidge. Power remains at 250W. Performance should be within a few % of the Titan. I am hoping for price of no more than 699 as the 1080 is now dipping close to 550 and I expect will drop to 499 in Jan.

We can only but hope. Cheapest 1080 is 560 but yes there are still plenty over 650.

I've been looking to upgrade my reference 980 for VR reasons. I briefly considered a Titan XP but the rumoured specs I've seen of the 1080Ti, makes it the better buy for what I want. The next decision is, do I get a reference 1080Ti or wait until the partners release parts with custom coolers?

Now that nvidia have realised the marketing power of the 'reference' cooler, there will be a large premium for it. That said, the guys who use these cards for cracking password hashes in specialised machines always recommend the reference cooler over 3rd party ones, for reliability under extreme load long term. If that provides any guidance.

US pricing looks good, $699. If that translates to £699 then I am in. The 1080 currently sits around the £600 mark!
I guess they are going to have to cut the 1080 prices by at least £100.

I won't be buying one since I have a 1080 but if it is a straight $ to £ conversion then the price is a lot better than I thought it would be (considering the stupid Titan pricing).

I don't have personal experience of SLI but I've heard many people that do state that they are never going to touch SLI again as the support has only got worse over the past couple of years.

Better off getting the best single card if you need all the bells and whistles, and/or 4K.

I was fully expecting £999 which would be a real serious investment given my whole system was about that!

Isn't sli problematic/not supported in VR which is the reason I would go for one. I already have a 980ti so it should be a big step up.
I'd have to do a full upgrade mind as my i5 would probably be a bottle neck.

I did see they will drop the price on the std 1080.

I think I'll go for it (so long as HoF produce an all-white version) to replace my 980. The 980 is great and does run everything but the second you use Nvidia Flex effects in something it soils itself with some pretty nasty spikes.

Be interesting to hear if 1080 is really a big step up from a 980ti. I would doubt it.

would a 1080 be a decent step up from an OC 970?
