I've ordered my mum a Fire TV Stick as one of her Christmas gifts.

What I didn't realise, and I'm still not 100% clear, is that apparently it will come pre-configured for my Amazon account as that's the account it was ordered on.

I have Amazon Prime if that makes any difference at all.

Now I don't really use Prime Video or any of the content I only got it for the free delivery, and I haven't been ordering anything I wouldn't want my dear old mum knowing about, but when I connect this thing to her TV on Christmas day what exactly will the experience be?

It can be done as I gave mine to my brother. I think there's a menu option to switch account link in settings somewhere.

They don't come linked to your account do they? You can just create a new account for her but I think you can still use catchup services without an Amazon account.

Has your mum got am amazon prime account? if not just leave it under your name. You can have as many devices as you want on the same account, the only stipulation being your can't watch the same thing on multiple devices at the same time. But if she has got an account then as above I'm sure it can be changed.

No, the whole reason for getting this is so things like iPlayer and other TV apps are as "non-computer" as possible.

I've no issue with just leaving it in my name so she can get the Prime video etc. but (for example) I don't want her switching on her TV and finding it pops up when that the stuff I've ordered will be delivered etc.

I suspect I'm overthinking it smile

I bought a couple and they arrived linked to my Amazon account. You can go in and disconnect them on the website.

The fire TV / fire stick don't show anything related to your Amazon orders. The only link between the two I can think of is that if you order CDs from Amazon they will appear on your prime music. But it doesn't show anything else about your Amazon orders.

This.

Login and select "manage devices" and "de-register" the device. You can do this on the website or in the app.

Ahh right, I order order things quite regularly and never had a pop up or any info about orders.

To be honest I've only used it to watch Grand Tour so far and havn't had much more of a play, but the Amazon music bit sounds good, does it do the streaming 'spotify' style bit aswell?

Yeah, leave it logged to your account so she gets all the benefits of the Prime video and music.
It will be a much better experience for her than a barebones login.
And as has already been said, you get no pop ups about your purchases as it doesn't link to your shopping.

If you use amazon cloud for backing up pictures

They appear on the firestick screen on the tv in the menu

I don't but that's exactly the kind of thing I was talking about that would make for an "interesting" Christmas day smile

Reference purchases, there is a setting to re-sync your iTunes account. I.e download all the apps that you have boUgh within a he settings->Account section. I think there is an option for turning off auto sync.

If your mums not that Davy with tech and wouldn't go syncing the device then it will never update the device.
