I am looking a new PDA and don't know what to get. The choices are:

Tungsten T3 or T5:

T3
T5

HP 1710 or 2110:

1710
2110

Does anyone have any experiences of these devices. I am looking to spend up to £250

1710 is underpowered… steer clear (IMHO)… Palm appears to be losing popularity, and although good machines I'd pass for that reason… 2110 is a good 'un though...

Palms have a bigger developer base, Pocket PC based devices have better out of the box interoperability.

Depends what you want it for...

General internet & email access with the usual pda functions like contacts etc. Not really going to be editing spreadsheets and docs really. If I need to write something, I'd just jot it down and then copy it into Word and then format it properly.

I might want to add wifi to it at some point. Do the Palm pda's need proprietory wifi and sd cards still or will any brand do?

I'd go for a Pocket PC based device in that case.

I am assuming you use Outlook for you desktop email client and Excel as the spreadsheet?

Many have WiFi built in...

Agree with Plotty on this one... don't forget to consider the likes of Dell's Axim range...

Yep, I use Outlook & Excel. I think the wifi come in at about £275 and up but I might be able to stretch that far.

Any idea what Dells are like?

2110 is a great tool of me.

Email and Internet access over bluetooth and GPRS on my modile.

Tomtom via a Compact flash GPS receiver

DVD Movies and Music via the natty bit of ripping software I bought.

1gb SD card

Have a look a www.pocketgps.co.uk for links out to good suppliers

Thanks for the replies guys. I found a Toshiba e800 on sale at John Lewis for £250 as they are being phased out. It had wifi and a vga screen which looks great. There is quite a big user group with lots of support for it so even when Tosh stop, there should be utils and updates etc.

I've now got the wifi working and surfing PH in 640 X 480 on a PDA is great!
Just need to find a BT cf card.
