Been sent a .pdf file, that I need to unlock/open or whatever the terminology should be. It looks like it is a powerpoint set of slides put into a .pdf

Does anyone know how, or can suggest any software to help get to the original material as I need to make a few changes to it, but do not have access to the source material directly.

Thanks
LB

You need Adobe Acrobat Professional I would have thought...

Or the original presentation in PP format before its been through the distiller.

A low-tech method would be to use the camera snapshot tool to copy the pdf into a picture. Then use a jpeg manipulation tool eg photoshop...

LB - you need Acrobat Writer... and the PRo version would be desireable.

It depends on whether the content is locked or not...

If it's not too sensitive, then you can mail it to me, I'll see what I can do...

You could also try OpenOffice - www.openoffice.org - it can save natively to pdf, and may well open them directly too...

Good luck

You can also open PDFs in Adobe Illustrator and edit the file if the edits are fairly straightforward.

And if all you want are the words, without the formatting, there are plenty of pdf to text converters floating about on the 'net - search for "pdf2txt".

Be warned though, the output may be a little weird - the order of elements in a PDF may not correspond with what you see on the screen, so when you convert it, the text appears out of order.

Thanks guys, it appears to be a non starter. Podie discovered the original document consisted of powerpoint slides pasted into Word, then put into a .pdf, and heavily compressed.

Will have a quick try of the photoshop attempt though.

Thanks again everyone,
