Had an MX Master mouse for a few months, it has recently become very jerky to use.

Checked this and that with support, nothing fixed it so they said they will replace it.

Before they would do this however, I had to provide evidence that the old one has been destroyed.................

Shortly after attacking it with a large hammer, it started to smell funny, and the internal battery became very hot. So its sitting outside now to cool down.

Odd warranty conditions, but at least they replace it FOC.

Makes sense I guess, not worth the cost of shipping it back to then throw it in the bin anyway.
I've done the same with a motherboard I sold second hand once, buyer wasn't happy with it (on-board audio wasn't working, I'd used it in my home server so never realised) so I asked him to crush the pins in the socket and send me a picture to verify he'd rendered it inoperable, then refunded him.

I approve of the drama they asked for.

Logitech have had this policy for a long time, but it's not always enforced. I remember friends of mine having to cut cords of keyboards to send back 20 years ago (cheaper than posting the whole thing), but the only time I've ever made a warranty claim they sent a new keyboard and mouse without any dramas or destruction required.

I had this too with a Logitech Harmony remote. They just wanted proof that the screen was broken, then sent me a new device.

Seems a bit daft in terms of pollution given you aren't supposed to put batteries in the bin...

It's lucky you didn't microwave it as there's a label you must remove first:

Me too, mine was out of warranty by 7 years, replaced it no questions for the new model.

Lithium batteries don't much like being tapped with hammers. I may have tested this a few times...

If it was fully charged and smacked hard it would definitely have destroyed the mouse!
