Anyone here recommend a reasonably priced PCI-E (express) card that allows dual monitor output (VGA outputs are fine - dont need DVI)

thanks all

Wait for one of my teenagers to post . However in the interim the only brief I was given when buying a replacement cheapish one recently by them was make sure its not an nVida one as they always seem to have problems with XP.
Went for a ATI radeon X600XT PCI-E one in the end seems to work OK and only £85. You can alwasy pay over £300 for top of the rnage stuff though which will out perform £85 ones but it does me fine.

Most of the cards these days have dual outputs but more often than not, they are either BOTH DVI connectors, or one DVI and one VGA.

Of the nVidia's and ATI Radeons I've sold in the last 12 months, every one of them came with a convertor to take the DVI to a regulat VGA 'dsub' connector.

So what I'm saying is you're most likely okay with any card but if you can check that it comes with the convertors, you'd be sorted

...and nVidia based cards don't have problems with XP as such. By a cheapo card, you'll probably get rather naff drivers and CD packaging which could be to blame. X600 or GT6600 are fine middle-of-the-road cards and will do you proud, I'm sure

1st thing to do is download the latest drivers from nVidia (rather than the latest MS-approved ones from WindowsUpdate).

Still not the greatest IMHO.
