best font 4 print?

what would u say looks the best font for a manual that is printed off and wont be viewed on screen? I know eg they recommend verdana for the web so whats recommended for print?

10pt Helvetica on 11pt leading.

Seriffed fonts are vile. Serifs were invented to make it easier to carve letters into stone, and I think we've moved on since then.

How many producers of books, magazines, newspapers use sans serif though?

We use sans serif typestyles for presentation material when the font needs to be large and legible, we use serif typestyles for manuals, booklets, books, reports, etc. as it is much easier on the eye than blocky sans type!
