Virus?

Ok i know Ph has had probs recently with back button and links but i am hoping someone can help me.
i am running win 98second edition with normal browser.
Absolutely everything on ph is tortouse slow and links and previewing posts doesnt work. How do i get rid of this data file that was mentioned?
Tools/3rd down for me is internet options.
Also i ran adaware and norton but found nothing. I tried to install hijack this but it opened up windows media player??????!
Can some one post a link that i can copy and paste to Hijack this please. I am tempted to go digging around in Windows but that would be like a tree surgeon trying to fill a tooth with me doing it.... Besides i am hoping that Ted nails the little bugge....i mean critter first.

is it just PH that is slow?

I've noticed there are slight delays which I'm guessing are due to the adverts, but nothing so bad as to stop pages loading...

Yeah although it seems to have freed up a bit now. Almost like it chokes on certain things. Anyway i'm gonna try some more links.

Nope, links still not working.the page goes blank and tries to refresh instead of opening a seperate window to the link. It then freezesand i can't do anything with the whole browser for a minute.
Im off to see if links on other sites work.

Looks like links across the board won't work. Just went and found a link in fred mirander . com and it won't work.
Looks like a virus!. I thought i was sewn up tighter than a nats proverial for a home pc.
Anyone know it?, got a fix?
I'm off to bed now anyway and i will hope ( as if that helps ) that it's gone tommorrow
