Fibre broadband - only BT?
Discussion
We recently had fibre (FTTC) installed on our street - it went live within the last week.
But only BT allow us to order fibre at the moment. I'd like to order with Plusnet as they're cheaper, but everyone apart from BT says we don't have fibre.
How long does it usually take for other ISPs to offer fibre?

LLU... It depends on 'your' cabinet though....

ETA : actually that might not help... I'm sure you used to be able to list the providers of services for your Exchange.. but that doesn't seem to be available any more! That's progress for you.
I'm surprised if you're on FTTC that you can't get other providers.
ETA ETA: Ours was live from the start and I went with Plusnet

Try John Lewis who last time I looked were £40 including phone line. I went from Plusnet to John Lewis, and although former had good technical service, John Lewis even better, first class after sales.
But they must be a tier two or three provider - who provides their service? Erm, isn't John Lewis provided by Plusnet??I guess a week is too early for Sam and all other than BT suppliers to have their systems updated.
It's all the same stuff up to the cabinet anyways, though

after checking samknows seems at least four other companies offer FTTC as well as BT openreach
I'm gonna go with BT as soon as my new cabinet for our hamlet goes live, I know there's rules to say BT Openreach has to be impartial, but BT fibre will just have that auto advantage built in..

OP, do you realise its fibre to the street cabinet whoever the supplier is (same for cable). So maybe ignore the cable type and look at the up and down speeds on offer.
I made a mistake... I looked again and it's actually FTTP. Is that the reason it's only BT (and Zen for some reason)?BT and Zen offering up to 300Mbps, everyone else up to 11Mbps (as we have now).
It's more like 330Mbit unofficially, but without profile cap it'll push well over 1Gig.
and I think I pay £44 a month for it
34MB/sec is the best I've seen so far! (2GB a minute!)
Connection status: Connected
Connection information
Connection time: 11 Days, 6 Hours 3 Mins 36 Secs
Data usage: 41957 MB Uploaded / 318042 MB Downloaded
318GB / 11 days, around 1TB a month
God bless Netflix 4k

BT, Zen & Andrews & Arnold are your realistic options sadly. Zen and AAISP are quite techy minded with very knowledgeable people on the phone but they get paid better so prices are more expensive but it's sometimes worth it so you don't speak to 'Mike' from Mumbai who asks you to reset your Router and change your microfilter even though you have FTTP.BT and Zen offering up to 300Mbps, everyone else up to 11Mbps (as we have now).
