i was actually thinking about this earlier today. I kind of miss the days of 10years ago when you would send a text at midnight and your friend won't get it until 11am.
Simpler times eh?!and a text mattered because it cost 10p to send. or whatever SMS allowance you had. can't be wasting £3 just to send out texts to all your mates.

So if it uses mobile data then it's using your network ?
But not an SMSC with limited capacity that gets swamped one night a year. On air data bandwidth also dramatically greater now.
Of course I’d expect a lot of the new year messages to be multi-Mb picture/video rather than a handful of bytes of text.

I have whatsapp.web and all of today the connection has gone on and off.
If something that surely must be virtualised cannot spin up appropriate capacity to meet a completely predictable need, someone is probably getting fired. Edited by Mr E on Sunday 31st December 19:22

makes me wonder what affect it's had on regular texts. i'm pretty sure the past few years i have gotten happy NY texts very close to midnight. even when i was outside the EU.
All virtualised (at least the ones I used to look at) for a while now - capacity a fairly trivial issue to solve. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
