Somehow - I'm not entirely sure - this program has managed to burrow itself into my IE so everytime I start it, this little thing pops up at the bottom.

I've done numerous virus/adware scans and it's not managed to get rid of the damned thing. I've checked all my registry files and the start up files along with all the 'add-ons' for IE and it's nowhere to be found.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the bl**dy thing because it irritates the out of me?

Not sure what it is, but got a couple of suggestions...

1. Run msconfig (from the run command) and check the startup and services tab.

2. Check the taskmanager and try to locate what the task name is (i.e open taskmanager, load IE, see what new taks appear, apart from iexplorer). Then do a search on your computer for that name, and delete the offending file.

Might work, might not, worth a go though...

that looks like a lop infection, you'll need to get spybot search and destroy to fix it, if you search on google there are a lot of websites to help

Make sure you check the "add remove programs" thing in the control panel - quite often these dodgy bar things do have a remove option.

Then after that run spybot etc to clean up after it.

Good idea, I didn't think of the taskmanager thing, I tried it but only explorer appeared. I ran MSConfig and regedit last night and found nothing.

Yup, I was going through that last night to uninstall IE but couldn't find anything of either.

I've just run spybot S&D, it found nearly 200 items, got rid of them all and the little bar has still not vanished. It seems like my IE on startup, goes to a website very briefly, which loads up the bar, then it goes to PH which is my homepage - the address bar in the bottom shows an odd page loading before PH does.

That may be Ted's cookie site - I've noticed that too (see website feedback forum)

I got that, think it was down to a piece of Gator spyware that I didn't know I was installing. Took a rebuild to get rid of it.

You didn't install MSN plus did you? There is a tickbox on that that everyone misses the first time they install it and it does something very similar. Uninstalling it also removes the malware iirc.
