Im on BT Infinity at the moment, it was great at first because they chucked in BT Sport, im now paying 15 quid a month for BT sport somehow.

So, i was thinking about moving to Sky Broadband and getting it bundled.

Anyone done the same and saved a bit more? Managed to get any thing chucked in?

Is Sky BB reliable on the FTCC network?

Opinions vary.

However, I've been on Sky for several years across several properties . One about 4 years ago. Had no issues.
Currently I have their Fibre max and full TV Q pack. Had it for 15 months so far - had to restart the router a couple of times but no more than any other consumer grade WiFi router.

In terms of service I've never noticed any drops. We live in a fairly modern-ish estate.

I would wholeheartedly recommend especially if you can get the deals going around now with Line rental and broadband for £18.

We are with Sky (though I think I am still on old school copper DSL rather than FTTC) - no complaints, and much better than bloody BT!

NowTV fibre here, same as Sky (owned and operated by sky and comes with Sky equipment) but cheaper and shorter contract normally as well - zero issues, stable line, really rate them

Moved to NowTV about 6mths ago after 4yrs with Sky and it’s completely identical

Been with Sky BB for years.

Now have the full unlimited fibre and it’s spot on for home use.

They did shut our account down in error about 3 years ago, that was a real pain in the ass. They could not re-activate it and had to wait out 60 days on std broadband, so they gave me 6 months fibre free... they have never charged me for it since lol

My BT Contract ends in June so this idea won't sail!

I will however look to migrate over to Sky, i'm paying far too much for TV with them and should be maximising value.

I don't watch TV, so free-view is fine, so got a broadband only contract with Sky.

Heavy internet usage means I got the faster tariff (can't remember which), for £25/m, with a £50 Mastercard thrown in.

Router took a week longer to arrive as living in an apartment building screwed up their automated despatch system (apparently), but other than that no complaints at all.

If you want to use your own router, or do stuff beyond the simple domestic, it can be a bit tricky. Sky will not hand over an ISP username/Password. Sky lock up their routers pretty well and I am not entirely sure why.

I wanted to use a better router to allow me to manage two subnets and do some other stuff. Here is some useful information I dug up on how to use other routers:

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-fibre...

https://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-databas...

Needless to say, any tinkering is at your own risk...

I've been with Sky for years and every year I renew I wonder why. Currently paying ~£130 p/m for 3 x boxes, Broadband and telephone (which I don't even have). Basic router is poor in a well built house. I have a 3 storey home, router on top floor (needs to be for my office) and bottom floor TV doesn't pick up the broadband / wifi so I only have basic functionality from box. Sky's response is to pay more for a faster service. My argument is that I'm currently paying for a service that doesn't work. I find Sky the best for choice, films, sport etc., which is why I continue, but I continue reluctantly. Oh, and every year you have to have the renewal argument "how much are you increasing?", "cancel it then please", "oh you'll take £50 off" and so on...

I currently have Sky non fibre BB and just in the process of switching to Vodafone. The Sky service has been unreliable for a few weeks and they can't fix it. They just said the next thing is to get a new router (for £40 including delivery) with no guarantee that will fix it. I told them I thought they should give me a replacement for free but they won't. Vodafone is faster (in my area) and cheaper. No brainer really. I should have switched years ago.

To be fair, most home routers will struggle in 3 story buildings.

Hell, even enterprise WiFi access points would struggle with that.

Use a repeater, or Powerline, or install cat5/6 throughout.
