Compaq Presario Quick Restore Software

I wish to restore my Presario 5000 running Windows ME back to 'new' cos it is forever locking up/crashing etc. I have the "Recovery CD" but to fully restore the PC back to day one, I need the "Compaq Quick Recovery CDs" - which I don't have

I've had a look on the Compaq website, and I think I they are still available, but is there any other way of restoring it to day one condition? I have the ME product key (sticker on case), but no discs as none were provided (I have had the PC since new)
