My motherboard (SK41 Shuttle) can only take upto a XP2400+ Athlon processor , I have a XP2000+ at the moment ,is there any sense in getting a 2400 form ebay and selling my 2000 ?

If you doubled your memory it would probably have more effect.

Other than that, you may be able to overclock your existing processor. Mine runs at around 15% overclock with complete reliability.

Depends on cost. Wouldn't throw more than a few quid at a 2400 these days (probably lots around 2nd hand).

As has been mentioned, more memory will probably make more of a difference depending on what sort of applications you tend to run.

Can't really see the point of overclocking much, unless you're 100% certain that all the components can take the strain and are prepared to put up with a bit of instability until you've found the sweet spot for your system.

Mine is a 2600+ running in excess of 3000+ speeds. Has run with complete reliability for 2 years. It can be worth the trouble - free performance.

Not knocking it, just questioning whether for most people running most applications it actually worth the bother...
