I had an invitation months ago to connect from someone I vaguely knew. Ignored it or rejected it I'm not sure which. But now the same guy seems to have sent another invitation.

Surely Linkedin should block this if he's using the same account?

It is possibly LinkedIn resending the request not the guy himself. It's a bit like a virus.

You get a reminder after a few days, but I think just once.

He could be setting up a new phone/mobile device.
Every time you set the app up it asks to scan your contacts.
If you don't click skip it sends the request.

I think that you're rather missing the point of LinkedIn - it's all about building networks....

You want to try and be a bit selective though - I get some very random requests.

Anyway it's less useful now most people hide their connections unless you already know those connections. I suppose it depends on your industry but I've found you just end up connected to people you already know.

LinkedIn seems to just be used by sales people these days, it is not uncommon to get a random spam email which is then followed up by a LinkedIn request from the same person.

I also once made the mistake on clicking on the your contact has a new job notification, within seconds he had rung to thank me for looking at his profile and would I like to buy stuff from him. I thought he was a slimy git first time round and now he has left the original company for the more expensive competition I had no intention of dealing with him again.
