If you're passing the data over SSl then you don;t need it (the transport layer wil handle it). If you're looking to encrypt data between client and server over a non-secure HTTP connection then there are a number of decent free libraries availabel.

If you're feeling like extending your knowledge and have time in the project plan to do it you could always implement some form of encryption (e.g. MD5 hashing) - the algorythms are pretty simple.

Had to do it the long way round on a Java project as the inbuild Javascript alogorythms came out with different results dependant on the browser/OS being used... used the Java native MD% to decrypt though.

Thanks. having trouble finding free libraries for this at the moment - can you recommend any?

Its for an internal application within a vpn, but there all still implications that need to be sorted out - basically the whole sharing session variables between asp and asp.net stuff, no time at all for a widespread fix so decided to put the value through the url in an encrypted format. So far it does not go well

and im hungry.
