Norton Anti-V EMail Scanning Error

I have Norton Anti-Virus 2003 installed on Win XP SP2. When I have a look at the system status box, it shows email scanning as "Error". I have done a live update, tried stopping and started auto-protect, tried restarting the PC, tried turning off the SP2 firewall, but all to no avail. Anyone experienced similar and have a cure? Thanks

yes - uninstall NAV, then install AVG or AVAST
