Anyone else suffered their 'customer service?'
Our wi-fi has been rotten since we moved. I spent the best part of an hour running checks for them being guided through it by someone
that barely spoke English and its gone bad again.
I emailed to complain and apparently my complaint is being dealt with although I have not been able to find out how.
We now have very laggy broadband again and I was told I had to endure another phone marathon with 'Dave' again.
Shouldn't they fix this as I'm paying them every month?
Why should I have to do this?
Does anyone have any ideas? I thought I would have one last go at calling them and was informed there was a 20 minute wait to be connected.

I had similar problems with them.
After I logged a complaint I was called back a few days later by a manager from an Indian office. I was not expecting much help but he was excellent and sorted out the problem really quickly.

Their ‘customer service’ is laughable. They tried to charge my elderly dad an additional month’s broadband fee despite me having served the necessary termination period notice on them on his behalf and getting confirmation of same..

He then got increasingly aggressive letters from them threatening court proceedings if he didn’t pay up, which upset the old boy massively. I got passed from one adviser to another, most had a very poor grasp of English and when I escalated it to a ‘senior adviser’ he was just downright obstructive.

As the saying goes, it was a matter of principle for me, so I wrote to the then CX, Dido Harding. Within days her PA replied, apologised (sort of) and struck off the ‘debt’. If it had been down to dad he’d have just paid up. They are the worst of a bad bunch.

My old man is with them and has had nothing but issues with wifi (from one room to another!) and appalling download speeds. I've tried to get him to change to plusnet but he keeps renewing and paying more on the promise of better speed and service.

Plug a laptop in via ethernet and test the speed, then you'll know if the connection is stable. Wifi can be affected by all sorts of issues.

I've related this story before on here, but I wouldn't give them the steam off my pee after the way they treated me following my mother's death.

She had a phone contract with them - standard landline stuff, no internet - and when I phoned them to cancel the contract after her death, no-one in the call-centre could apparently understand any of the words 'dead', 'died', 'death', 'passed away'. All I got was "No, no - still 5 months of contract to run - you must pay us or we send bailiffs"

I had to put the phone down on them twice whilst my heart rate subsided and my bladder stopped boiling the contents...

Try using their forum. They have admins who are switched on and helpful.

I’ve used for 10 years now and they’ve been ok, don’t think I’ve had a problem for the last 5-6 years.

Talktalk are carphone warehouse aren't they?

Always were the pits. When you took a phone on contract you signed two contracts so if the phone broke they could refuse to fix it while still holding you accountable to an airtime contract

Not wanting to be a dick, but I actually work with enterprise grade Wi-Fi so have some experience.
I'd say 95% of problems with most connections are down to either the Wireless signal (IE crap / weak / interference) or the crappy supplied router you get, but that is much less rare.

Most people on here have powerfully built houses, you can't reasonably expect to put the router in the servants bathroom and for it to work all the way over in your wing.

That wasn’t my experience. They were as useless and unhelpful as their call centre (see above).

I had something similar. You have to be persistent with them. I had slow download speed but normal upload speed, after a lot of calls I eventually got them to send a BT engineer who sorted in 20 minutes. Its the second time it's happened this year, same engineer came the first time too. When it works and you don't need to contact customer services they are fine, when it goes wrong though christ the are a bloody nightmare.

This. I would never try to phone their call centre again. Gentleman from the sub-continent tried to dictate a password which was a mix of letters etc. Nightmare!
I use instant messaging.

They are useless.

My parents broadband dropped to 0.2 Mb, they tried to tell me this was acceptable. Eventually they agreed it wasn't and the fault was in the house - really, I had the router plugged into the test socket ... everything else disconnected.

Took me 3 months to get them to send Openreach out - engineer found the fault in minutes, outside the house. He made a temp fix, and arranged for a new line to be run from the box to the house.

Parents moved to Plusnet - so far no issues.
