Wireless receiver for PC..

Have a netgear wgr614v4 which works fine with my Dell laptops internal card, (from maybe 5m I get an excellent signal strength which never drops), but the WG311 card in the PC sat 2 feet from the laptop has only ever received a medium/poor signal and seems to have given communicating up alltogether. I've removed, reinstalled, updated everything, but still no joy. It seems to be working ok, but although it sees the network, won't register the SSID and won't even attempt to connect.

Any suggestions for a solution/replacement?

I know this doesn't help but I have seen this before, where it wasnt the wireless adaptor at fault as it worked fine in a different PC. Rest of the symptoms were the same as you've outlined.

.... and he never fixed it, just flogged the wireless card on ebay and bought a different make. .. which worked fine.

Thanks.. The manufacturers support forum's advice is pretty much the same. SOmetimes they just don't work..

Oh well, trip to Maplins then..
