has anyone got any experience of radio connection to the internet? looking at various ways for our school to connect better and someone suggested radio but havent any knowledge of it. anyone suggest any suppliers etc?

Pipex do a radio/microwave service, I support a couple of centres with it and it works very well. Speed and latency are no worse than the average leased line, and the only problem has been when the local PoP failed - fixed by them in 2 hours though.

Not a huge amount of info on their site (they aquired it about a year ago from Firstnet, who themselves aquired Tele2), but there's an info sheet here:

No idea on costs (as I don't pay the bill) or what coverage would be like where you are.

There's also leased lines if you're out of reach of ADSL, I found when I used to live/work in Kent that Demon were cheapest by far as they charge flat rates instead of stinging people who are far away from their PoPs. Still a pricey option next to ADSL though!

thanks for this. the person i spoke to said a company called telbra or something similar where big in it in kent - anyone know who they are as cant find them on the net not 100% sure of the name
