XP service pack
Discussion
I have just been prompted to install service pack 3 for XP. It wants access to the original XP CD-ROM which I do not have. The machine came with XP pre-installed. There is, they say, a 'full-file' version to get around this but it also says that there is no uninstall option. Why would I want SP3 and what will it do that I might not like?

please can you let me know how to bypass the security?
I would really like to install the SP2 on to my PC but its running a naughty version of XP pro and so wont let me![]()
TIA
There are several ways but the easiest is too google it and download a cracked one or a crack tool for it.
It is a load of crap though and the firewall is a joke. It tends to cause more problems than it fixes. A large company I used to work for made it a disciplinary offence to install it.
There is a large chance of it killing your machine like it has done too many PC's.

Thats entirely upto you!.
I haven't installed it on my machine and I know that most large companies haven't installed it.

MS had to back down on the update thing so that bit can be ignored.

Personally I recommend installing SP2. Our company uses it, for those PC's with XP installed, and you can control the various new features using group policy objects (I set these myself). Obviously this is useless to home users, but I think that having a firewall on your home PC is much better than not having a firewall at all. The SP2 firewall is so much less intrusive than things like Zone Alarm. Just my 2p...
SP2 also monitors whether, or not, you have any antivirus software, and also tells you if it's out of date.
Working for a recruitment company, you have no idea of the amount of candidates' home PC's that are infected! (Not sure if my apostrophe is correct there - modern teaching hey!)
