Hi all!

Remeber reading on here that there is and MS utility you can run in XP that hsoes the startup services and files and allows you to tick and untick them

What was it?

My XP is running like a dog with up to 100% proccessor utilisation on an AMD 2400, 512 ram (half utilised), free space of over 100gb! Running Macafee internet security (Norton 2005 nearly killed the machine)and all clear with that and spybot/adaware. Disable the Mcafee as thought this might have been killing the machine like norton...still average of 30% utilisation at rest with spikes up to 100%.

Grrrrr! wanted to avoid a re-install!

Sounds as thou you still have a spybot or trojan running. Try downloading and runnig this:

www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

It found 2 nasties that both Spybot and Adaware had missed on my system.
