OK, it's not highly technical and it's not fatal but it's not funny...why is it on some occasions that when I add a site to my favourites and then drag it into a folder, sometimes it slots in alphabetically without further assistance yet other times it needs dragging through to the right spot? The same happens -again seemingly at random - when saving images, in that sometimes the new images appear at the foot of the my pictures window yet at other times they slot in automatically at the right place. What's going on? I imagine it's something to do with the object being saved but frankly don't know.

Total guesses, but might give you an idea. With the favourites, I'd suggest that if you end up dropping it on a folder it'll go in alphabetically, but if you drop it into the contents of the folder, it'll stay where you put it.

With the files going into a folder it'll be down to whether the folder view gets refreshed - if it does, it'll find it's alphabetical place, if not, it'll drop to the bottom.

On that score, after selecting 'add to favourites' the icon always appears at the bottom of my folder list, I then click and drag to drop it in the folder of choice...then I go look in the folder and that's when I sometimes find it at the foot of the alphabetical list but sometimes already in its correct position, thanks for the idea but I don't think that's quite got it yet...do some URLs when saved as favourites have hidden descriptors that would cause them to slot in which others don't?

Again thanks - so how can I make use of that to get the things slotting in right? Or can't I?!

Have you tried right click 'Sort by Name'?

Easier than dragging to right position I find.
